What does the background check cover?
Background checks are limited to ST. MARTIN PARISH 16TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT COURT ONLY. Matters handled in the City of Breaux Bridge Court, City of St. Martinville Court, and Town of Henderson Court will NOT be mentioned on the background check.
Who can request a background check?
Anyone can request a background check; however, you must have a copy of your driver's license attached to the request for the background check to be completed.
How can you get a background check?

Include the $20.00 processing fee, or you can complete a Credit Card Payment Authorization Form to have the background check sent to you.

Subpoenas:

Requests for local subpoenas should be filed 10 days prior to the anticipated hearing.

Requests for out-of-parish subpoenas should be filed 30 days prior to the anticipated hearing.

In a misdemeanor case, we can issue up to 6 subpoenas free of charge.

In a felony case, we can issue up to 12 subpoenas for free.

EXPUNGMENTS
For an expungment, please allow 90 days at minimum for the completion.
For a Motion and Order To Set Aside Conviction And Dismiss Prosecution, please allow two weeks at minimum for completion. Upon completion or denial of the order, certified copies will be forwarded to the address on the original motion. It is then your responsibility to go to the Louisiana Department of Motor Vehicles with the certified copy of the completed motion to finalize the process. The Clerk's office will not be responsible for providing the DMV with copies of the completed order since additional fees may be owed to the DMV by you.
